چکیده

The amounts of Reactive oxygen species (ROS) become higher by strenuous exercises which consume larger in active muscles. Since these ROS directly injured muscles, the high concentration involves muscle fatigue. Thus, an immediate scavenging system is desired. Monascus pigment (MP) physiologically substances scavenge ROS, it may be a clue to save injury. However, there are no reports examining MP effects on oxidative stress skeletal muscle. In this study, we investigated effect and mechanism cells damaged stress. ability eliminate was evaluated mixing solutions with ・OH O2・−, type ROS. peroxidation C2C12 cell viability assay or western blotting. scavenges O2・−. treatment increases survival rate under At that time, expression catalase, antioxidant enzyme, increased: enzyme change H2O2 into H2O rescue We conclude monascus suppressed myotube damage both non-enzymatic up-regulation catalase expression.

Calpain-1 is required for hydrogen peroxide-induced myotube atrophy.

Recent reports suggest numerous roles for cysteine proteases in the progression of skeletal muscle atrophy due to disuse or disease. Nonetheless, a specific requirement for these proteases in the progression of skeletal muscle atrophy has not been demonstrated. Therefore, this investigation determined whether calpains or caspase-3 is required for oxidant-induced C2C12 myotube atrophy. We demons...

Evaluating the effects of galbanic acid on hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative DNA damage in human lymphocytes

Objective: Ferula szowitsiana has been widely used for medicinal purposes around the world. The anti-oxidant effect of F.szowitsiana had been proved. The current study aims to determine the protective effects of galbanic acid, a sesquiterpene coumarin from F. szowitsiana, against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) - induced oxidative DNA damage in human lymphocytes. Materials and Methods: Human lymphocyt...

Neuroprotective effects of Peltophorum pterocarpum leaf extract against hydrogen peroxide induced oxidative stress and cytotoxicity

Background: Peltophorum pterocarpum is a plant from the family of Leguminosae and a tropical tree found in South East Asia region. The leaves of the plant is rich in anti-oxidant polyphenols. Traditionally this plant was used to cure intestinal disorders and as a relief for sprain, bruise, muscular pain and sores and for pain during child birth. Since oxidative stress is a major contributing fa...

An investigation of the response of lymphoblastoid cells to hydrogen peroxide-derived oxidative stress.

The synthesis of heat shock proteins (HSPs) may play a significant role in the mechanism of cellular protection against oxidative injury [ I , 21. We have shown that T-lymphoid (Molt-3) cells exhibit enhanced susceptibility to H202-induced cytogenetic damage and that these cells also have low levels of intracellular catalase activity [3]. The aim of this study was to investigate the response of...

The Effect of Replacing Sodium Nitrite with Monascus Purpureus Pigment in German Sausage

Background: Many common cancers, such as prostate, breast, and colon, are caused by harmful substances and compounds contained in processed foods, including nitrite-treated meats. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of replacing sodium nitrite with Monascus purpureus pigment in sausage and to assess its antimicrobial, antioxidant, color, and sensory properties. Methods: The...
